Cougar Women's Golfers Qualify for Public Links Championship

PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State rising-sophomore Nani Yanagi and incoming freshman Cherokee Kim each qualified for the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship.

The tournament will be held at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman, Okla., June 17-22.

Yanagi qualified with a 79 at the Ewa Beach Golf Club in Ewa Beach, Hawaii, June 1. She is a native of Hilo, Hawaii. Kim shot a 75 at The Home Course in her hometown of Dupont, Wash., June 3.

The tournament began in 1977 and is a championship for female amateur golfers who play on public courses. The first-two rounds are stroke play. The top-64 players through two rounds advance to match play (18 holes) with the final being 36 holes.
