Assistant Development Director, Major Gifts Officer
Washington State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Development Director, Major Gifts Officer (Development Assistant Director). The Assistant Director of Development is a key member of the WSU Cougar Athletic Fund team, sharing significant responsibilities for the advancement of the CAF’s annual, major, and planned giving development efforts, with an emphasis on identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gifts (defined as $25,000 and above) primarily in the Puget Sound area. This position will be based in Seattle, physically housed in the University’s downtown Seattle office.
Minimum qualifications: Positions require a Bachelor’s degree and four (4) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, which includes eighteen (18) months of full-time fundraising experience which includes demonstrated success of face-to-face solicitation of gifts of $1000 or more, mass market fundraising, event planning and management, donor stewardship, fund tracking and acknowledgements to donors OR comparable experience and one (1) year of managerial experience. Comparable experience totaling four (4) years of progressively responsible full time experience in sales, marketing, public relations or advancement experience which has involved direct face-to-face contact with clients, customers, prospective customers and members of the public may be substituted for the experience requirements. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience.
Preferred qualifications: Demonstrated success at fundraising major gifts of $25,000 or more. Fund-raising experience in a University/Higher Education environment. Fund-raising or related work experience within intercollegiate athletics. Fund-raising and familiarity with the Puget Sound market. Work experience that demonstrates an understanding of deferred gifts and estate planning issues. Advanced Degree in related field. Work experience that demonstrates excellent written communication skills. Work experience that demonstrates strong interpersonal skills. Work experience that demonstrates strong computer capabilities and familiarity with spreadsheets and database systems (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, alumni/donor applications, E-mail). Work experience that demonstrates the ability to work autonomously, and to establish priorities and follow-up in a timely manner.

Assistant Director of Marketing & Promotions
Washington State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Director of Marketing & Promotions (Marketing/Promotions Coordinator Senior). This position, in conjunction with the Assistant Athletic Director of Marketing, oversees the development, implementation, and execution of a comprehensive strategic marketing and promotions plan for all home athletic events for all 17 sports targeting a variety of diverse audiences including alumni, faculty, staff, friends of WSU, administration, and current students. Specifically, this position directly oversees the Marketing of the Women’s Basketball program, the Baseball program and the volleyball program. This position also manages a variety of public relation activities on-campus and within the community, including the direct oversight of the department’s local advertising. The Assistant Director of Marketing is also responsible for assisting with oversight of the Marketing Department’s Student Internship Program, including the recruitment and hiring of student interns for the department.
Minimum qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications or related field AND three (3) years of professional level experience in marketing, promotional or related work. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends on a regular basis.
Preferred qualifications: Advanced degree in marketing, public relations, communications related field. Demonstrated successful marketing and promotion experience in athletics. Demonstrated experience in the development and management of budgets. Demonstrated work experience in sponsorship sales and contract fulfillments. Demonstrated successful experience in management and supervision of internship or student programs. Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete projects independently and with specific deadlines. Demonstrated experience working in positions that require strong communication skills. Possess strong time management and organizational skills. Strong computer background with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe software. Ability to work with students, coaches, and administrators in a broad range of situations. Ability to obtain and maintain a valid unrestricted driver’s license.
