Katie Hinrichs

Katie Hinrichs (pronounced hen-ricks) joined the Cougar volleyball staff in June 2011 after an outstanding prep and collegiate playing career.

Hinrichs played libero for WSU Head Coach Jen Greeny at Lewis-Clark State College and during her career the Warriors tallied 112 wins and 24 losses, won four regular season and post-season Frontier Conference titles, and advanced to the national NAIA Championship Tournament all four years. Hinrichs, a three-year team captain, had school-record performances including digs in a match with 41 against Doane at the 2009 NAIA Tournament, single-season digs (561 in 2010), and her 1,585 career digs is second-best all-time at LCSC. She was a four-time Frontier Conference All-Academic selection. She received her bachelor's degree in Business Administration from LC State in 2011.

Hinrichs is a native of Pullman, Wash., and was a volleyball, basketball and softball standout at Pullman High School. She earned three varsity letters playing volleyball for Greeny at PHS where the Greyhounds accumulated an 84-12 record. She earned first-team All-Great Northern League honors as well as all-state honors as a junior and senior. The Pullman volleyball team won its first state volleyball championship in 2005 and placed in the top eight in 2006 and 2007. Hinrichs was a guard on the basketball team and led squad to third-place finish at state her junior year and to the league title as a senior. She started all four years at shortstop on the PHS softball team, earning second-team all-league honors her first year two years and then first-team honors her final two years. She was voted the softball team's MVP three times and an all-state selection as a senior. Hinrichs was named Pullman High's Female Athlete of the Year in 2007 and was awarded the Jessica Clark Memorial Scholarship. In addition to athletics, she was the ASB Vice President and a member of the Athletic Council.

Hinrich's father and grandfather are Washington State alums. Father Phil pitched for Cougar baseball in 1978 and 1979 and went on to play in the San Francisco Giants organization. Grandfather Bob ran the 120yd hurdles for the WSU track team. Older brothers Phil Jr. and Kyle also attended WSU with Phil competing on the cross country and track teams, and Kyle on the baseball team.
