Cougars Lead After Day One at Circling Raven

1st-2nd Round Results Get Acrobat Reader

WORLEY, Idaho-The Washington State University women's golf team completed its first day of competition at the Circling Raven Collegiate Invitational in Worley, Idaho. The Cougars finished the day holding a nine-hole lead with a score of 605 (+29) after two rounds at the par-72, 6,111 yard course.

Senior Kristen Allard leads the Cougars at second place overall, with a 36-hole total of 145 (+1) and is five strokes back from the top position with Tuesday's final round still to come. Allard opened the day with a first-round 73 (+1) before shooting an even-par 72 in the second round.

Freshman Kristen Rue shot a first-round 77 (+5) but came back to record a two-over 74 in the second round to end the day tied for eighth. Freshman Lindsay Harmon shot 155 (+11), putting her in a tie for 22nd, with a 78 (+6) and 77 (+5) for the first and second rounds, respectively. Junior Emma Betland is currently tied for 30th place, scoring 81 (+9) in the first round and 75 (+4) in the second round for a two-round total of 156 (+12). Junior Mallory Kent carded a 79 (+8) in the opening round and a 78 (+7) in the second round for a first day total of 157 (+13), putting her in a tie for 39th.

Competing as individuals, junior Brenda Jesernig shot 157 (+13) after two rounds; 81 (+10) in the first and 76 (+5) in the second to sit tied at 39th. Junior Ellen Park is currently tied for 89th place, shooting 81 (+10) in the first round and 84 (+13) in the second round for 165 (+21) on the day.

"I'm proud of how everyone on the team played today," WSU Head Coach Kelli Kamimura said. "We fought hard and finished two solid rounds."

The Cougars conclude the tournament with Tuesday's final round set for an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
