CORVALLIS, Ore. - Washington State's Jessica Perry scored a team-high 12 points and Bianca McCall and Lindsey Egeland scored 10 points each in the Cougars' 62-46 loss to the Oregon State Beavers in Pacific-10 Conference women's basketball action, Saturday at Gill Coliseum.
Oregon State was led by Michelle Smith's 13 points and Leilani Estavan's 12 points.
WSU opened the game with a 4-3 lead but Oregon State scored 13 consecutive points to take a 16-4 advantage at the 12:25 mark of the first half.
The Beavers extended their lead to 33-14 but WSU ended the half on a 5-0 run to go into halftime down 33-19.
In the first half, Oregon State shot 14-of-33 (42.4 percent) including 3-of-8 from three-point territory. Conversely, WSU shot 5-of-17 (29.4 percent) from the field and did not attempt a trey.
The Cougars stayed within sight thanks to the charity stripe as WSU was 9-of-14 from the free throw line compared to a 2-of-4 effort from OSU.
A Perry free throw pulled WSU to within 33-20 to open the second half. That was as close as the Cougars would get, however, as an Estavan three-pointer stopped the Cougars' run and gave OSU a 36-20 lead at the 19:02 mark.
For the fifth time this season the Cougars out-rebounded an opponent as WSU held a 46-42 advantage over the Beavers on the boards.
