Stanford, Calif.--- Firing a two-round, four-over par 148, Washington State junior Jennifer Dodd (Portland, Ore.) placed fourth in the Peg Barnard California Collegiate played at the Stanford Golf Course. The 11-team field featured seven teams that will compete at the Pac-10 Championships April 24-26.

Dodd emerged as a possible dark horse at the conference tournament in Eugene, Ore. by carding rounds of 72 and 76 and beating national top-50 players Stephanie Keever and Hilary Homeyer of Stanford, and Mikela Parmlid, Nicole Dalkas, Linda Ishii, and Leila Chartrand of USC. The Portland native's first-round 72 tied a season best.

Led by Dodd, the young Cougar squad managed to grab eighth place, despite the presence of six of the top-40 teams in the nation in Stanford over the weekend. Senior Jenny Ballou (Portland, Ore.) slipped out of the top-25 on day two of the tournament, finishing in a tie for 32nd with a 148. Tasha Browner (Tarzana, Calif.) and freshman Shanelle Roberts (Tacoma, Wash.) were separated by only one stroke, with scores of 164 and 165, and placed in ties for 39th and 43rd, respectively.

UCLA's Amanda Moltke-Leth played an even 144 to win the tournament. USC's Candie Kung and Washington's Kelli Kamimura finished two strokes back at 146 and tied for second. WSU's Dodd was next, four strokes behind leader Moltke-Leth.

Washington, ranked 31st nationally, played fourth-ranked USC to a tie in the team standings. Both teams shot identical rounds of 302 and 300 and finished 26-over par. UCLA, who also shot a first round 302, placed third, four strokes back.

This was the final tune-up for the Pac-10 Championships. Washington State's best-ever finish at the conference tournament was a seventh place showing in 1987.
