THE ROAD TO OMAHA
The Washington State University baseball team (34-20, 15-12 Pacific-10) is participating in the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship for the second-straight season...first time since 1987-88 that the Cougars are in the NCAA postseason in consecutive years...WSU finished third in the Pac-10...Washington State is the No. 2 seed in the Fayetteville, Ark., Regional and will play No. 3 seed Kansas State (36-20), Friday, June 4 at 7:05 p.m. Central/5:05 p.m. Pacific...regional top seed Arkansas will play No. 4 seed Grambling State at 2:05 p.m. Central/12:05 p.m. Pacific, Friday.

The Cougars are ranked 23rd this week by Collegiate Baseball and 24th by Baseball America...Cougars are receiving votes in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and the USA Today/ESPN polls.
BUILDING A PROGRAM
Prior to 2009, Washington State's last NCAA postseason appearance in baseball was 1990...Cougars have now earned an at-large bid in each of the last two seasons...WSU has 34 Pacific-10 Conference victories during that time, its most in a two-year span since 1989-90 (35)...Cougars have been prolific at protecting their home field with a 41-11 mark...the 78.9 winning percentage is the second highest in the Pac-10 behind Arizona State...under Donnie Marbut, Washington State has a winning record in each of the last five seasons, including four years with at least 30 wins...from 1995-2004, the 10 seasons between legendary Cougar Head Coach Charles "Bobo" Brayton and Marbut's arrival, Washington State had two winning seasons and failed to win 30 games in any season...Marbut is the only Cougar mentor besides Brayton to average at least 30 wins during his WSU career.
