ROME - Washington State University swimmer Rugile Mileisyte set a Lithuanian national record in the 50 backstroke with a time of 29.58 at the World Championships, Wednesday.

A native of Alytus, Lithuania, Mileisyte broke her own record of 30.04 set earlier this summer at the Lithuanian nationals. She finished 45th in the event and bested 87 swimmers at the competition.

Mileisyte's 56.94 leading off the 400 free relay at the World Championships, Sunday was a lifetime best and helped the relay team set a national record of 3:54.97. Her next event is the 100 free, Thursday.
