PULLMAN, Wash. - Kellen Camus struck out a career-high six in three innings of relief as Washington State defeated Brown 3-1 and complete a four-game nonconference baseball series, Monday.

The game was 0-0 until the sixth when Brown (1-10) picked up a run against Washington State (15-8) reliever J.D. Leckenby. The Cougars tied the game in the bottom half of the inning on a one-out single by Yale Rosen and a run-scoring double by Nick Tanielu.

In the seventh, Ben Roberts and Trace Tam Sing collected back-to-back infield singles with one out against Bears' reliever Eddie Fitzpatrick (1-1). With two outs, Collin Slaybaugh plated Roberts with a line drive single to left-center field.

Washington State added an insurance run in the eighth. With one out, Adam Nelubowich was hit by a pitch and Ian Sagdal singled to put runners at the corners. J.J. Robinson followed with a pinch hit single to score Nelubowich.

Cougar starter Jason Monda (four-shutout innings), Leckenby and Camus combined to limit Brown to seven hits while striking out 13.

"Our pitching was outstanding again tonight," Washington State Head Coach Donnie Marbut said. "We ran into a quality arm on the mound (Brown starter Kevin Carlow) and needed every bit of the pitching we got tonight."

The Cougars open a three-game Pac-12 series at home, Thursday against Stanford at 6 p.m.
