Final Score: No. 17 Washington State 74, USC 50

WASHINGTON STATE QUOTES
WSU Head Coach Tony Bennett
On the game...
"We both really needed this game. Yeah there's a sense of urgency, but there's also seven games left and there's a lot of basketball out there. I like that we put it together. I thought we were very sound with a level of patience without guys trying to take over the game. We had a little trouble with their press, but for the most part, held tough and didn't break down very easy. We played the game we needed to play to be successful with great patience and making them earn. They have a lot of talent."

"I told the guys leading up to the game, `don't lose your heart...' When you get out to a lead like that that helps. They did the job. It was hard-fought."

On Kyle Weaver's performance...
"Kyle was locked in all game. I thought he had a very special performance. He made O.J. (Mayo) work for everything and there was help there for him. Offensively he just had a nice pace to him and made some big plays. It was great to see Kyle play like that, it definitely helped our team."

WSU Guard Kyle Weaver
On Coach Bennett's pre-game speech...
"Before the game, coach didn't say anything to us. He just came in and wrote `Now is the time' on the board and he walked out. We all sat there for a minute, we took it in. I think this might be one of the first games that we got ourselves up to play before the game. That was big having him come in and put the ball in our court. That was big for us."

On whether or not this was the team's best performance...
"You can always play a better game. We broke down at times. We gave them a couple of easy ones. I think we scrambled at times when we needed to. The overall effort I think was good."

On his performance...
"I just heard I didn't miss. That was pretty cool."

On defending O.J. Mayo...
"I've got a good matchup every night. I've always got the best player, that's my role on the team. Tonight it was O.J. He's a great player. I think I frustrated him a bit. I know he'll bounce back and have another good night. I just wanted to make things tough for him tonight."

On reaching 1,000 career points...
"It means a whole lot. Everything I've done since I've been here, all the work, all the blood I've put in and my teammates that have been through here and shown me the way. It feels good what I did personally and what we did as a team."

WSU Guard Taylor Rochestie
On the game...
"We did a good job of being patient. Everyone has confidence in their shooting, confidence in their ability offensively. We played sound and patient offensively and it worked to our advantage tonight."

On the importance of the win...
"I think we have a swagger of confidence, not a boastful one, and I think it gives us a little bit of our swagger back and a little bit of that confidence to know that we can work hard and put together 40 minutes, especially heading on the road."

WSU Forward Robbie Cowgill
On the game...
"Our defense has slowly been getting better every game. We did a good job of being in the gaps tonight, perimeters did a great job and they have talented guards that do a good job of getting to the rim and I thought we did a good job as a team and collectively as a team keeping them and out of there and making them shoot over us and then cleaning up the glass."

"I felt we executed well on both sides of the ball tonight."

USC Head Coach Tim Floyd
On WSU's defense...
"I really give Washington State a lot of credit, they really channeled their frustration into defending with poise tonight. They really guarded us well. They cut us up, we didn't have a lot of defensive patience after 15 or 20 seconds we just broke down. "

On Kyle Weaver and Daven Harmeling...
"We know (Weaver) is a fine player and we know Harmeling is a fine player and they were big points of our emphasis going into that game. They can make plays and they do a nice job of scheming and putting them in situations to take away the strengths of your defense. Weaver was terrific, absolutely terrific."

On preparing for the game...
"We need more than one day to prepare for them, I know that."

On the technical fouls...
"Technicals are a part of the game and our goal in the second half was to try to get to the line and we did not accomplish that."
