EUGENE, Ore. - Holly Harris led a trio of Washington State players who scored in double figures with 13 points in the Cougars' 85-52 loss to the Oregon Ducks in Pacific-10 Conference women's basketball action, Thursday at McArthur Court.
Jessica Perry (11 points) and Candace Fields (10 points) completed the double-digit scoring contingent for WSU. Brandi Davis led Oregon with a game-high 17 points to lead six Oregon players in double figures.
The Ducks shot 34-58 (58.6 percent) from the field including 11-of-21 from three-point territory. WSU was 18-of-48 (37.5 percent) from the floor.
Oregon sprinted out of the gates making seven of its first 10 shots en route to building a 16-6 lead at the 13:38 mark of the first half.
The Ducks extended their lead to 40-22 to conclude the opening 20 minutes. Oregon ended the half shooting 16-of-28 from the field (57.1 percent) including 5-of-11 from three-point land. At one point in the first half, Oregon hit a three-pointer on three consecutive possessions.
Meanwhile, WSU struggled, missing 10 of its first 13 attempts. The Cougars ended the first half 8-of-24 (33.3 percent) from the field.
"Oregon shot the ball really well and they were able to get the ball deep inside to the post," said WSU coach Sherri Murrell. "Oregon was taller, bigger and stronger than we were."
The Cougars return to action at Oregon State, Saturday, Feb. 22 at noon.
