WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Washington State forward Daven Harmeling has been named the U.S. Bank Pacific-10 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 4-10, commissioner Tom Hansen announced Monday.

Harmeling, a native of Grand Junction, Colo., averaged 15.5 points and 5.0 rebounds in leading the Cougars to a pair of victories last week. He opened the week with a career-high 20 points, hitting 6-for-12 from the field, including 4-for-9 from 3-point range, in the 77-67 upset victory over then-No.18 Gonzaga. The win over the Bulldogs snapped a seven-game losing streak to Gonzaga.

The redshirt sophomore followed that performance by putting up 11 points on 5-for-8 shooting and collecting career-high seven boards and three steals in a 66-54 win at Idaho. For the week, he shot 55 percent (11-for-20) from the field, 38.4 percent (5-for-13) from 3-point range and 100 percent (4-for-4) from the free throw line.

This is the first weekly honor for Harmeling, who becomes the 14th Cougar to receive the honor and it marks 17th time Washington State has earned the award. The last Cougar to receive the award was Josh Akognon in January of last season.
