T&F Opens Outdoor Season in Los Angeles

WASHINGTON STATE TRACK & FIELD OPENS OUTDOOR SEASON
The Washington State track and field teams open the 2016 outdoor season with a pair of meets in Los Angeles...several Cougs will compete at the USC Trojan Invite, March 18-19 at Loker Stadium-Cromwell Field...Tuesday, March 22, the WSU teams will be at the Jim Bush Collegiate Invite competing against UCLA and Arizona teams in a scoring meet at UCLA's Drake Stadium for  another year of Track Tuesday on the Pac-12 Network...field events begin at 11 a.m. with most track events shown live on Pac-12 Networks from 4-6:30 p.m. PT...international scoring of 7-5-4-3-2-1, and relays scored 7-5-4, will be used...a small contingent of Cougars will also compete at the Buc Scoring Invite, Friday, March 18 at Whitworth University in Spokane.
WAYNE PHIPPS, DIR. OF WSU CROSS COUNTRY/TRACK & FIELD
Wayne Phipps (Univ. of British Columbia '91/Oregon '94) become the 15th coach to take the reins of the Washington State men's program and the second coach for the combined men's and women's program at WSU on July 1, 2014...Phipps had been the University of Idaho's Director and Track & Field/Cross Country from 2010 through 2014, and was a coach with the Vandals program for a total of 19 years...he served as co-head coach from 2000-09, after serving as an assistant coach from 1995-99... while at Idaho, Phipps was honored 14 times as a conference coach of the year and led the Vandals to a record 16 total conference titles.
COUGAR COACHING STAFF
WSU Track & Field coaching staff includes Associate Head Coaches Julie Taylor (throws), and  Yogi Teevens (sprints, relays and horizontal jumps)...Assistant Coaches are Brad Walker (vertical jumps), and Allix Potratz-Lee (distance)...Andrea Sabbatine is the Operations Coordinator...volunteeers working with the WSU track and field this year include: Jesse Jorgensen, Nigel Joseph, Hannah Kiser, Josiah Sims, Tim Taylor, and Liga Velvere.

PAC-12 NETWORKS TO BROADCAST MARCH 22 MEET AT UCLA LIVE

The Pac-12 Network Track Tuesday Returns!!! The Pac-12 Network will broadcast the majority of the Jim Bush Collegiate meet, March 22 at UCLA's Drake Stadium, live...men's and women's teams from Washington State, UCLA and Arizona will compete...schedule of events have the men's hammer starting the field events at 11 a.m. with the majority of the races beginning at 4 p.m. when the live TV broadcast starts...announcer is Paul Sunderland with analyst Tom Feuer and field reporter Drea Avent...the broadcast is set to last until the conclusion of the meet with the men's 4x400m relay at 6:19 p.m...the Pac-12 Championships, May 14 & 15, will be telecast on a delayed basis from Seattle.
